The Topo MTN Racer 3 Trail Shoes: The Ultimate Choice for Trail Running
Share
When store manager Karen Davies told me that she had a pair of Topo MTN Racer 3 shoes at Sportlink for me to test out, I must admit having tried out the previous version the ‘MTN Racer 2,’ I was not that excited by the prospect.
I just found the Racer 2 to be far too hard/rigid, despite testing them out several times on a variety of surfaces.
However, always being one for giving second and even third chances whilst also knowing that Topo are distributed by OSC owners of the Ronhill brand, this also gives credibility to a product/s
So, upon trying the Racer 3 on in-store, my initial reaction was one of ‘hmm, these definitely feel different’ whereby I went straight out and had a run round Felthorpe woods in them.
They were indeed different but of course and whilst initial reactions are always important, like any good relationship it’s also very important to get to get to know them properly over a period of time.
Having now worn them for virtually every run throughout February and March on all terrains including some road sections, I can honestly say they are the best trail shoes I have ever worn.
The fit and feel underfoot is exceptional and whilst they are designed as an off-road racing/performance shoe, as far as I am concerned, they are also up to the job when it comes to an off road every day running shoe.
As for being designed for racing, well one hundred percent!
Over all distances and surfaces too.
Trail racing is something which has really caught my interest of late. I so wish it had been as popular during my competitive days as it is now, for the Topo MTN Racer 3 would most certainly have been my shoe of choice.
