Brooks Glycerin 21 - what’s new?
Share
Having used the Glycerin 20 in my shoe rotation since it's release, I was keen to see what changes Brooks had made in the latest update - the Glycerin 21.
The Glycerin 21for those who don't know is the most cushioned and plush shoe of the Brooks range. Think more Rolls Royce than Ferrari you won't tear up a 5km in these shoes. This shoe comes into it's own on those long training runs when comfort is paramount. You can definitely feel the additional 2mm of DNA loft v3 nitrogen infused foam, giving the shoe a slightly softer feel. The redesigned engineered warp knit upper I found hugs your foot better in the same generous toe box.
The redesigned outersole using recycled silica (Brooks call it Road Tack) was very grippy in the wet. The cushioning although not as soft as a NB1080 or a Nimbus 26. It gives you the feeling of protection for your joints on those longer runs without compromising stability.
To sum up this is a shoe that will work best as a daily trainer for all abilities. It's also most definitely one to consider if you are looking for a comfort over speed for your spring marathon.
